Sick Week
I never, ever would've thought of myself as a germaphobic guy. That all seemed to change once the pandemic started. I did my best to stay away from people - direct family excluded - but even that wasn't perfect. There was a bit of a bubble that allowed me to see my niece and nephew while everyone was working and doing school from home.
But other than that, I didn't see friends for the longest time. My wife and I both got to keep our jobs and work from home, so I didn't have too much to complain about. Over time, I started doing more - once I started getting my vaccinations.
I'd go to outdoor events, I'd start to go to indoor events in masks, and then eventually last fall started going to concerts without a mask on. I started living life. And in all this time, I never got sick.
That luck ended a couple weeks back. I went to a concert on Sunday. By Tuesday I felt a bit of a cough and soar throat. By Wednesday I thought - hmm, I'm sick. And on Thursday, I tested positive.
My wife was still negative - my parents, who we live connected to - were still negative. A couple days later, we all had it!
Right away I went to the doctor and got loaded with meds. I did nothing for the first 5 days, and then last week I slowly started working. My breathing wasn't too bad - but the fatigue was something I'd never felt before!
I worked for most of the week, but not full days. Then yesterday, I took my dog for a longer walk and even went out for a ride with my wife. Today I finally feel normal - well, as normal as I can be considered.
Tomorrow, I am ready to go back to work full time. It's been a long week, but we're all on the mend here.
The cool thing is, I lost some weight (and I have been trying to). Now to keep it off. While making chicken in the air fryer. And watching football.
We'll see how that goes...
